Bougainvillea Summer – The vile hated plant

Someone put me out of my misery.  Every summer it’s the same thing.

I have mixed emotions about these plants. They do have pretty flowers but they sure are a pain to clean up. Since I am the sole gardener in the house, I often want to scream when I have to clean up those loose flowers. Not to mention they grow like a weed. I should let my wife take care of them. She runs a hospice for house plants. Seriously. When she takes care of plants they come to our house to die. One time I came home from work to find this very nice looking ivy of some sort in a pot on our kitchen table. I was starting to feel sorry for it when I asked my wife how much money we wasted on it. She said $15. Then I learned it was plastic.

Big sigh.

I’m laughing at Z’s term ” bougainvillea hatred”. Hehehe.

    And you, ElBro. ;-)

I share your pain, though. This heat is unbearable. We’ve reached 106* this summer with humidity in the 50-60% (I think), and that’s when I start wanting to move to Minnesota.

    it’s definitely a hatred

My mother had lived with since just after my father died in 1996, when we landscaped, I thought I’d put something in for her too. She said she wanted a bougainvillea. Well I told the landscaper I wanted one, he put in three. The day they planted I had to work and got home just as they are packing up the truck to leave. What a maroon I was. I should have made them fix it BUT I didn’t. Now I have to put up with three of these vile putrid plants. My mom seems happy though.

I didn’t know you had this page! DUH! I kept going to Bloghi and getting error/test page messages!

We have a morning glory that grows like crazy, wraps around things, ect. Dave is going out today to hack it back.

brooke, I moved. too many technical hassles and unresponsiveness to emails.

I hope Dave was able to hack it back without hating it like I do those plants which shall forevermore remain nameless.
